I've had the same dream twice now. Which is odd, cuz I rarely remember my dreams. I am imprisoned in a world ruled by marshall law. I don't remember what I did to be imprisoned, but I have an uncanny ability to escape. The majority of these dreams consist of breaking out of this imprisonment and then avoiding recapture. Both times I have escaped I haven't worn shoes, and I remember running through a parking lot with layered hills while alarms sound around me as they realize I've broken out. The first escape I had nothing with me. It was daytime in the middle of a rural area and I can vividly remember barely avoiding officials as they patrolled the dirt roads looking for me. I found a path through a thick tuft of trees that seemed to lead to a fenced area. I walked through the gate and was met by a man driving a blue VW bus. (Similar to the one they find on LOST). He told me I was running late, I needed to hurry to get into the car and he would take me to a safe place. As I got into the car and we started driving to safety I awoke without aid from the alarm.
The second escape happened just this morning. Right before my escape I was visited by family (I think it was family) who brought me some necessary things (don't remember what they all were, but one was my iPod). Shortly after the visit I escaped. This time I ran down the hills of the parking lot in the dark so I knew it would be harder. I found the same thicket of trees with the same gate and walked through it. There was no car. I had "missed the bus" so I was on my own. I wandered through the woods periodically avoiding contact with the patrolling officers and guards trying to find me again. I found a trailer perched upon a large pile of HUGE tractor tires; which I climbed to see what was inside. As I approached a window I heard voices inside and knew it wasn't safe to be seen or heard. So I hurried to the edge of the tire pile and jumped. Suddenly I was aware that my large white skate shoes (not sure when I started wearing those, maybe I got them when I got my iPod, but if that were the case why didn't I wear them running away from the prison?) were going to make my presence known the moment I touched the ground. I muffled the sound with a graceful landing and sprinted off. I began running away from where i had come knowing I needed to run to stay free. I then awoke, again, without the sound of an alarm. A few things I remember thinking during my dream: "I'm not in good enough shape to be able to keep run this much," and: "I wish I had my laptop. At least i have my iPod but how long will it's battery last?"
What does it all mean?

Just something random.
So i'm at work, and it's winding and raining outside. Do you like how i made a verb out of wind? me too. So this is the coldest winter anyone can remember. People talk about how cold it is and how no winter has lasted this long in recent memory. I'll admit, it's colder than i expected, but really, if I didn't have to drive my scooter through the rain storms it would be nothing to complain about. Actually it's still nothing to complain about. People don't tend to have much sympathy when I complain about anything. No matter the level of legitimacy, I still live in Hawaii. It's pretty amazing. I've fallen a bit behind in my photo editing, but I have also fallen a bit behind in the taking of the pictures. I have a bunch of exciting photos to post, photos from the old leper colony on Moloka'i, some from the Polynesian Cultural Center on O'ahu and probly some other ones. To be honest i'll post a lot more on Facebook, just cuz it's easier, which I like. I like things that are easy...
I have some friends in the branch who are wanting me to teach them everything I know about photography. That shouldn't take long. but nah, I have a buddy who is a dentist and just bought a D90, which i envy. there is also this cute little number from california who wants to head in the direction of photography and the same dentist told her to talk to me. I'm getting referrals to teach photography lessons for free. It reminds me of this funny card I saw in Mormondom: "You are incredibly talented. Will you do that for me for free?"
I'm actually not bitter or anything, I just think it is funny. what else should i talk about....maybe i'll post some photos a bit later.

Some Underwater-ness...
Ok so one of my favorite things to do is snorkel. The last time I went with my sister it was really foggy, which is really just silt and sediment floating all over the place. Despite the difficulty of seeing, I was still able to capture these few gems...
Enjoy :)
So Notice a few things.
1. There are lots of sounds, I make none of them.
(You'll just have to guess what they are)
2. I'm going down about 10 feet before I go back to the surface.
3. Make sure my purge valve is functioning properly.
This is part of the reef. Keep in mind, this is nothing special. We can access this by walking out into the water.
This long skinny guy is a trumpet fish. They are all over the place. I like seein these little guys.
These two little guys kept swimming right away from me. But look at the colors! OH THE COLORS!
This has got to be the biggest puffer fish I've seen....EVER! I've seen a total of like 3...I was trying to piss him off so he'd puff up at me, but he just swam away.

I was getting a bit bored so I decided to do some self portraiture. Whadaya think? The salt burned my eyes a bit, but not any worse than chlorine when i was on the Water Polo team. (On the team doesn't mean I play right Bret?)

I found my favorite puffer fish again. About 10 minutes after my first encounter i was swimming along and all of a sudden there he was again. Still he didn't puff up. Lame-wadd.

Hawaii In General
Ok, so i'm a firm believer that no one really wants to read a ton of random thoughts that should be kept to myself, so I will use this mostly for picturing. Deal with it when i do feel like ranting or just randomizing events as they happen or unfold around me. -Douglas

Welcome to the Tropical world of Douglas!
Ok so, for those of you who are wondering: What does Douglas do when he's living in a Tropical paradise?, your questions can now be answered. Well at least they will be soon. I'm at work right now and can't really post much, but!!!...expect pictures and videos...well i don't have any way to take video, but expect jokes and fun times and stories about crazyness and (yeah i know that's misspelled) swimming with sea animals including the humuhumunukunukuapuaa. (which is the state fish. seriously.) and just random thoughts on what i'm thinking at the time. i'll get into it. Also i'll accept questions and requests as always.
